What are different types of estimate?

Types of Estimate:

A) Approximate Estimate:

This is an estimate prepared to findout approximate cost of structure within short period of time without taking out actual quantities. Approximate Estimate os required to be prepared for getting administrative approval from the concerned department.

Methods for preparing approximate estimation:

1)Plinth area or sq.m method

2) Cubic Content or cubic volume method

3) Approx. quantities with bill method

4) Cost comparision method

5) CBRI method

6) Typical Bay method

B) Detailed Estimate:

This is an eatimate which is to be prepared in detailed by reffering drawings, specifications, etc.

In this quantities and cost of all items of work are determined.

Detailed eatimate gives us the idea about total fund to be required for execution of proposed work.

It is to be prepared and submitted for seeking technical sanction from the department.

Detailed estimate is prepared in two parts

1)Measurement sheet

2) Abstract sheet

C) Revised Esimate:

It is fresh detailed estimate which is required to be prepared under any one of following circumstances

1) When original estimate exceeds or likely to exceed by more than 5%

2) When the quantities of certain items of work gets changed due to change in design

Revised estimate must be submitted to the department along with variation in quantities as well as cost for getting fresh technical sanction.

D) Supplementary Estimate:

This is fresh detailed estimate im addition to the original estimate required to be prepared when additional items of work are to be included necessarily during the progress of work.

E) Maintainence and Repair Estimate:

After construction of any structure it is necesaary to maintain it for proper functioning. For a building items like

1) Plastering

2) Painting

3) Waterproofing

4) White washing ,etc
